Kitesurfing Colombia, 1st international Kiteschool in Santa Verónica
Kitesurfing Colombia was created in 2019 by Gigi, a French IKO level 2 kitesurfing instructor since 2014. After a career as an engineer in renewable energies, Gigi became an IKO kitesurfing teacher in Tarifa in 2013. He spent 4 consecutive seasons there, first as a kitesurfing teacher, then as manager of a German kitesurfing school and a hotel. In 2015 he discovered Colombia and especially Santa Veronica, which seduced him by its potential, the trade winds that blow daily in winter, its varied sailing conditions (waves, flat, downwinds, …). He will then come back there every year in winter, and will start giving kitesurfing lessons as a freelancer, until he gets a visa allowing him to stay the whole year in Colombia and to create KITESURFING COLOMBIA in 2019. Thanks to his mastery of several languages (French, Spanish, English and German), Gigi and his team are able to give lessons in several languages, making KITESURFING COLOMBIA the first international kitesurfing school in Santa Veronica.

Best Kite teacher I've had, hyper pedagogue and makes Kite understand before practicing it! Gigi adapts to the level, the conditions and is very involved. The school is in a top city with great restaurants and bars by the water to spend the week! I really recommend!
To summarize 👎 AVOID this place if you prioritize to learn efficiently:They push hours on you in poor or strong wind, premium price vs some kiteschools in Salinas, very much theory and practice on land consumed most of the 12 hours and they did not even teach self rescue within this time, we had requested 1-2 hour lessons byt they pushed for 3 hour lessons. Kitespot Tubara is shoppy and not really great for beginners, especially when small kite size is used and wind drops or intcreases alot and instead of stopping lesson or changing to other kitesize carry on and even prolong the lessons.During hour 11 wind picked up alot and we decided against the instructor to stop the lesson to learn waterstart in very strong wind and choppy conditions. We then went to another kiteschool in Salinas where focus were on time on the water and practice in the water, in Salinas you reach the bottom and not loose much time in deep water recovering after not managing the waterstart - superefficient. Gigi is not allowed to teach in Salinas by the locals, probably the reason he talk bad about learning is Salinas. They kept us waiting outside their small storage room approx an hour prior each lesson since they called us there for a daily briefing and then we had to wait until others had been driven to the spot and finally they took us to the spot - they do not bother about your time and the customers need.My doughter got the lessons in present, she have lots of experience from trainerkites, snowboarding and windsurfing prior the lessons.👍Positive: friendly at first, the theory made us feel safe initially. Gigi and Andres are knowledged and share this.👎Can be improved:Equipe student with a radio, considering premium price a radio could be expected.Listen to the student/customer.Decreased time on theory and repeating theory and more active learning.Even with many hours theory, selfrescue or kiterules were not covered. When I brought up the our concerns and asked what level is expected after a course we got ”it varies” and I was asked not to be at the beach the final lesson….Have lessons in Salinas. Last hour we requested this and Gigi wrote ”it is not adapted for beginner lessons”…I do think Salinas is much better suited especially in mornings since very few come to Salinas before lunch.Lots of waiting time prior going to the Tubaru beach together. Long walking at the Tubaru beach to the learning area. Very few persons available to help to land kites at the beach for accompying persons. This was a long review, this was our experiance, hopefully this feedback helps improve this kiteschool for the benefit of future students.
Big thumbs up for this school. After taking courses in Brazil and Colombia, I measure the superior quality of the courses and advice provided by Guillaume and Laurent. They helped me correct the shortcomings ignored by other teachers until then and helped me gain autonomy.Guillaume also found me accommodation, in short, a great meeting. I highly recommend 😉
I highly recommend this kitesurf school. The service is beyond expectations, whether for lessons, equipment rental or accommodation!Gigi was very attentive throughout the stay and gave very good advice!See you soon, I hope !
Best school of kitesurf ever!Perfect instructors, really good spot to learn with no one else, atmosphere is great, equipment good 🙏I have made so much progress in 4 days, thank you so much Gigi andPS: Pour les français, sans hésiter allez y pour kiter !
Great place, staff and spirit! They are really attentive to guests and are very careful about safety during kiteboarding lessons.Checkout the Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/pg/kitesurfingcolombia/ or contact them at casagigicolombia@gmail.comEnjoy!
I took one class with Gigi and it was very thorough. I tried to schedule another class with Juan Pablo but had complications on my end and they were very understanding and accommodating. The beach they practice on has small waves, and they are highly qualified instructors to help you conquer that and become a fully rounded kiter.
